Quality Standard

How we expect tradespeople to work

Homeowners are trusting you in their home. These house rules apply to every tradesperson who joins BuilderFind, and they are what we measure complaints against.

Be respectful

Treat homeowners, their families, neighbours and our team with courtesy, in person and in writing.

  • Keep the property clean and tidy while you work
  • Be honest about delays or problems as soon as you know
  • No pressure selling or scare tactics

Honour appointments

Turn up when you say you will, or tell the homeowner in good time if something changes.

  • Confirm visit and start dates in writing
  • Give notice if you need to rearrange
  • Answer messages within a reasonable time

Be upfront about cost and timing

A homeowner should never be surprised by the bill or the programme.

  • Explain what could change the price before it does
  • Agree extra work in writing before you start it
  • Give a realistic start date and duration

Send itemised, written quotes

Your quote is your promise. Set out what is included, what is not, and how payment will work.

  • Break down materials, labour and any provisional sums
  • State exclusions clearly
  • Say how long the quote is valid

Keep our fee out of your quote

BuilderFind charges you a commission per job or a monthly plan. Do not mention our fee in a quote, and do not add it as a line for the homeowner or ask them to pay you outside the process to avoid it.

  • Quote the price you would charge for the work
  • Never ask the homeowner to bypass BuilderFind

Only take on jobs you can finish

Quote for work you are qualified, insured and able to complete in the timescale you give.

  • Hold the certificates your trade requires
  • Do not subcontract to anyone you have not vetted
  • Tell us if your circumstances change

What happens if standards slip

We look into every complaint fairly and listen to both sides. Serious or repeated breaches of this standard can lead to a warning, a pause on new jobs or removal from BuilderFind.
